    maximize your foam
So, I just finished using the product - I'm a DIY homeowner.

The product is very good and the online videos are a must watch. I used one nozzle since I had my room cleared of any obstacles - I kept moving.

It is hard to maintain a constant thickness, so what I would suggest is this.... use thick foam board and "seal" the gaps / edges with this stuff.

This stuff is perfect for ridge boards all by itself. Avoid hitting the front of your studs as much as possible since you'll have to scrape it off later.

I don't feel that you truly get 200 board ft from this product - more like 180.

    "Great Stuff"
This stuff is great. Easy to use, but you need to really purge lines for like 2 seconds then put on your nozzle and pull the trigger all the way for like 5+ second to get the A part and B part to mix well in the nozzle. After that it was a breeze. Produce almost exactly the amount of product it said it would. Make sure you wear gloves. I am still trying to get the stuff off my spraying hand 2 weeks later.

I don't recommend this product at all
The 200 sq ft at 1" claim is a over stretch. I bought two packs of this product to insulate 170 liner feet of rim joists (9") wide. Both packs together filled the area with just 1" foam or about 90 square feet per pack. I don't recommend this product at all. When I contacted dow they are saying that the yield depends on many factors and gave a long explanation why it did not yield as per specs. None of it is convincing. Unless you are willing to pay double the amount of your original estimate, don't go for it.

Good enough to insulate my Sill Plate!
I needed to insulate my sill plate. It was easy to install. Be sure to use a drop-cloth. You will drip, but this is not unexpected. Home is better sealed and warmer. Mission accomplished!
Pros: Easy to Use, Performs Well, Easy to Install, Easy to Work With, Seals Well, Great Value, High Quality
    Cons: use a drop cloth!

    Ok product
Product works ok if you follow the directions. I had an issue with the foam coming out runny, so I read the directions and found the solution. It is very expensive for what you get so I would recommend using this product on small areas that need insulation.

Correct Temperature and Sufficient Mixing Are Essential
I have used the Froth-Pak 200 to air-seal rim joists--the area above the foundation wall in a basement. The first time I used it I did not shake the canisters well enough and the foam did not cure properly. Don't just shake the box for a few seconds. I take the tanks out of the box so I can shake/invert each tank for a minute or two. You will be able to hear the chemical sloshing around in the tanks. Also, don't ignore the recommended temperature for application--around 75 degrees F.
The uncured foam will drip off the end of the gun so make sure you protect any surfaces. I've always worked in unfinished basements and it has been easy to clean up the cured foam by scraping it off the cement floor.

Safety: I wear a Tyvek suit with hood; nitrile gloves; goggles and a half-face respirator with vapor cartridges. You also need to learn how to properly dispose of the empty tanks and any leftover chemical depending on the laws in your area.

For the average do-it-yourselfer, it would be much cheaper, easier, and safer to air seal with one-part foam (something like Great Stuff Pro with an application gun) and then insulate with fiberglass batts.

    Product Question

    Product Questions

    Hi,

I have a small bathroom to insulate in Montreal, Canada. I only have approximately 50 sq.ft. of concrete and brick wall to cover, with 2 X 4 studs (wood). Is this product what I need? I saw videos that are using this product for for the same kind of project but the installation instruction says its for "cavities" or joists.

    Thanks for the clarification
